In Greenland, there are only 3 forms of long distance travel: plane, boat, and dogsleds (snowmobiles in some areas). So boats are essential but generously compensating subsistence hunters and fishermen for their time away is also the most fair thing we can do.

The boats aren't fancy but they area efficient and the time aboard is always an adventure. This amount includes contingency.
