This photo was taken in Iceland on the famed Diamond Beach, a black volcanic sand beach next to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. To me, this closeup kind of resembles a small bird with a beak so it’s called Bird Ice. All of my images get nicknames based on when and where they were taken or what they look like. This is rarity because I normally don’t go on beaches to make my images but the abstractness lends itself to a wonderful contemporary piece.

The relative difficulty to get here was nowhere close to as challenging as Greenland so the price is reflected. As a fine art printer, the black inks are also a lot cheaper to procure than the color inks.
