What went from a huge disappointment turned into the best day of my life. I was kicked off the plane going north to Qaanaaq due to weight issues on the plane. I was frustrated because the next flight was a week later. Stuck in Ilulissat, I called my friend that owned the boating tour company to see if I could go out that evening. What I was able to see was the best gift of nature I could ever ask for. I had never seen light like this. It was majestic.

As a photographer, this was the best day of my life because later that evening I witnessed THIS sunset at around 22:00 and then a stunning display of the aurora borealis. I took this from the hotel I take my guests to in Ilulissat because it was my first hotel in Greenland - Hotel Arctic. The grounds are fabulous and the view from the hotel restaurant was this sunset that evening.

As a principle, I do not do much editing to my photos. At most, I may adjust tones and brightness because I intentionally bracket or shoot dark to preserve details. This is what it looked like to the naked eye and I’m grateful to our brave captain that got us to our destination safely. Ready to ship giclée printed by the artist on archival canvas and varnished in house. This is a large print measuring 29” x 20.25” but it has some damage on the ready-to-hang canvas and that is priced in. Please let me know if you’re interested and we can consider a reprint on paper or something that is not already stretched and framed.
