Greenland is massive and these images are of massive objects. As the artist, I believe my work is best experienced on a large scale. Small sizes do not do the images justice. Phone screens and instagram are also wildly insufficient.

I was shocked to see the prices of printing images on a large scale using commercial labs so I went out and now own three Epson large format printers to print my own. It was a learning journey to master the giclée printing techniques and I now know what I’m doing. The smallest print I make is 11x14.

Everything for sale here was achieved and created from end-to-end by one person: me. These are some of the steps in the process to create these products.

  • I dreamt of the different parts of Greenland to visit

  • Planned my solo expeditions

  • Researched and procured gear for the cold from all over (both clothing and specialty camera gear)

  • Set goals for my images

  • Executed the plan and became a travel agent

  • Traveled from Houston to Frankfurt to Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat and beyond

  • Got bumped off flights and stranded for 4 days

  • Made new friends

  • Researched the light

  • Took a chance

  • Shot the photos with 3 cameras on my person at all times

  • Survived the journey home 7 times and counting…

  • Minimally edited the images

  • Simulated them on a wall with Canvy

  • Stunned by prices of printing your images online

  • Bought an Epson P6000 24” from Armadillo Photo Supply in Houston

  • Painstakingly learned fine art printing and giclée

  • Developed preference for archival media including Hanemuhle matte, textured papers and exhibition fine art canvas

  • Wanted to go bigger and bought an Epson P9000 44”

  • Dropped the Epson P9000, delaminated the print head during a move and replaced it

  • Made mistakes

  • Learned from mistakes

  • Varnished canvases

  • Started selling to friends and family

  • Marketing is still a work in progress

Every ink, every paper, every microscopic detail was all me. The price reflects these efforts but I am open to negotiation (respectfully please).

The fixed prices start at $169.00 USD for a high resolution digital download only. A percentage of the proceeds go to charities in Greenland. The 16 is the year 2016 and the 9 is for September, the year and month of my first trip to Greenland in September 2016.

Please inquire here if you’re considering a custom print. You can go to the portfolio and choose your favorite images that I will simulate on a wall based on your preferences.

From $59 USD for my “pre-loved” archival posters
